The Cook County Bar Association is pleased to announce its upcoming 25th Anniversary Minority Law Student Job Fair. The Job Fair will be held at the Embassy Suites Downtown/Lakefront Hotel located at 511 North Columbus Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60611. The Embassy Suites Hotel is located two blocks east of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile shopping entertainment and two blocks west of Lake Michigan and the paved 20-mile lakefront path. The large suites in this hotel are conducive to conducting formal interviews, as the sleeping area is a separate part of the suite that will be closed off during all interviews. |
The CCBA Job Fair primarily is designed to obtain summer associate positions for rising 2Ls (current 1Ls) during their second summer in law school (summer 2009). A limited number of employers may also wish to interview rising 3Ls (current 2Ls) for entry level associate positions which will start after they take the bar examination (fall 2009). The 2008 Job Fair will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We will end this year’s Job Fair by having a 25th Anniversary Reception where students and employers will have the opportunity to mingle on an informal basis during the last hour of the Job Fair. |
The Job Fair typically attracts over 900 students and more than 150 law firms, corporations, and government agencies. These employers primarily are located in California, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Washington D.C. In addition, we have several employers registered from Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. For more information about participating employers, please see the list of 2007 registered employers on the Employers section of this website. |
We only invite students from fully accredited law schools that are ranked among the top 30 as determined by U.S. News and World Report, law schools at historically black colleges and universities, law schools located in the Midwest as defined by NALP, or students that are fellows or associates of the Council on Legal Educational Opportunity (CLEO) program. This year, only students in the classes of 2010 (current 1Ls/rising 2Ls) and 2009 (current 2Ls/rising 3Ls) will be invited to participate. Students will have the opportunity to begin the registration process on April 1, 2008. |
Students should upload their resumes by May 9, 2008 and will bid for employers by May 31, 2008. Employers then will be asked to pre-select eight students which will comprise one-half of each interview schedule. The remaining one-half of employer interview schedules will be filled based upon the student bidding process. Any cancellation slots will be filled from the employer's alternate list. |
Registration for Employers is now open. Please save the date August 8, 2008. We hope that you will join us in August for the 25th Anniversary Cook County Bar Association Minority Law Student Job Fair. |
