Recognizing a need to bridge the employment gap for minority law students, the Cook County Bar Association established the first annual minority law student job fair in 1983. This event has evolved over the years and has come to be known as the CCBA Minority Job Fair -the oldest, largest, and most well-respected professional employment event of its kind in the United States. Historically, the CCBA Job Fair has provided the sole means of securing the first post-graduate employment position for many minority law students.

For the past 26 years, the Job Fair has provided the opportunity for minority law students to interview with top law firms and government agencies from across the country. We only invite students from fully accredited law schools that are ranked among the top 30 as determined by U.S. News and World Report, law schools at historically black colleges and universities, and law schools located in the Midwest as defined by NALP.

In recent years, the volume of employers and students participating in the Job Fair has increased dramatically. We owe much of the success of the Job Fair to the hard work and dedication of the volunteer committee members. The growth of the Job Fair also can be attributed to the fact that more employers are recognizing the value of a diverse work environment. Many of our long-time participating employers have come to rely on the Job Fair as a valuable source of minority legal talent.

In 2009, more than 500 students interviewed with more than 100 law firms and 20 government agencies. The success of the Job Fair is encouraging and speaks well for the continued success of minority lawyers and employers' commitment to diversity in hiring. The ever increasing size of the Job Fair, however, requires a location capable of accommodating such a large event. Naturally, the venue expenses associated with a job fair of this size significantly increases the cost of the entire event.

Therefore, I am writing to invite your firm or company to serve as a sponsor and, in doing so, ensure the continued success and growth of the CCBA Minority Job Fair. As indicated on the enclosed sponsorship form, there are several levels of sponsorship available to assist us with this great endeavor. Each ascending level of sponsorship has layers of value added to meet your organization's marketing needs.

This year, the Job Fair will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown/Lakefront, 511 N. Columbus Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60611. The law firm of Jenner & Block LLP has graciously agreed to serve as host firm for the 2010 Job Fair and hosts all planning meetings. The DuPont Corporation has been a long time supporter of the Job Fair and has generously sponsored our event for many years. We hope that your firm/organization will join the ranks of our generous, long-time sponsors and contribute to this important and worthwhile event.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to review the attached materials which detail the different levels of sponsorship. With your support, we can continue to grow and expand the Job Fair while providing continued employment opportunities for talented minority law students. In the event that you have any questions or require any additional information, please feel free to contact me at (312) 399-5640.
