Thank you for your interest in the
25th Annual Cook County Bar Association (“CCBA”) Minority Law Student Job Fair. Law Student Registration will open on Tuesday,
April 1, 2008. If you attempt to register before April 1st, please note that your registration will be deleted. |
For the past 24 years, a committee
of volunteers from various Chicago law firms, corporations and organizations has devoted significant time, energy, and resources to
organize and execute the Job Fair with one common goal: matching prestigious employers with outstanding minority law student
candidates for summer and entry level employment. The 2008 Job Fair will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
in Chicago. The 2008 CCBA Job Fair Committee will be hosting our 25th Anniversary Networking Reception which will allow registered
students and employers to mingle on an informal basis during the last hour of the Job Fair. |
The CCBA Job Fair primarily is designed to obtain summer associate
positions for rising 2Ls (current 1Ls) during their second summer in law school (summer 2009). A limited number of employers also
wish to interview rising 3Ls (current 2Ls) for entry level associate positions which will start after they take the bar examination
(fall 2009). Rising 3Ls, please be aware that Job Fair interview slots for rising 2Ls typically outnumber those for rising 3Ls by a 3:1
ratio. |
In an effort to keep the student-to-employer ratio as low as possible,
we are only inviting J.D. students in the classes of 2010 (current 1Ls/rising 2Ls) and 2009 (current 2Ls/rising 3Ls). Students
graduating in any month prior to December 2008 (current 3Ls) and joint degree students graduating in 2011 are not eligible.
All participating students must be from fully accredited law schools. Additionally, students must also fall into one of the following
categories: |
·attend a law school ranked among the top 30 as determined by U.S. News and World Report, or
·attend law school at a Historically Black College or University, or
·attend a law school located in the Midwest as defined by the National Association for Law Placement (NALP); or
·be a fellow or associate of the Council on Legal Educational Opportunity (CLEO). |
If you are unsure about
whether you attend a law school that is eligible to participate in the 2008 CCBA Minority Law Student Job Fair, please refer to the Law
Schools section of this website for the 2008 List of Invited Law Schools. |

| Each eligible law school’s career services office will be
appointing a staff member who will serve as your school’s CCBA Job Fair Liaison. Each Liaison will be the point person that will
serve as the school’s informational resource for our Job Fair. Please understand that your law school must be registered in order
for you to begin the registration process. If you are unsure of your eligibility for the Job Fair, please see your school's
designated CCBA Job Fair Liaison. |
Each school’s CCBA Job Fair Liaison will
be called upon to verify each registered student’s class year and projected graduation date after the May 2 2008 resume
submission deadline. As was the case last year, registration for the 2008 Job Fair will be completed electronically through
EaseLaw, an internet based matching program powered by E Campus Recruiter. |
When student registration opens, please see your school’s
CCBA Job Fair Liaison to obtain a copy of the Law Student Registration Information Brochure which contains a complete copy of the
registration instructions. |
